Privacy Policy

Meridian Log is a personal life-logging app. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it's stored, and what it's used for. In short: your data stays in your own iCloud account, and we don't have access to it.

Data we collect

When you submit your daily entry, Meridian Log captures:

Location & elevation — your GPS coordinates and device altitude at the moment you submit an entry, plus the city, state, and country resolved from those coordinates via Apple's reverse-geocoding service.

Weather data — current weather conditions for your location, retrieved from Apple's WeatherKit.

Your answers — the free-text responses you enter to the app's default and custom questions, along with any saved answers you've used before.

Timestamps — the date and time of submission, stored in UTC along with the IANA timezone identifier for the location you submitted from.

Location access

Meridian Log requests "When In Use" location permission only. Your location is captured at the moment you submit a survey entry — the app does not track your location continuously or in the background.

Where your data is stored

All entries are stored locally on your device and synced via Apple's CloudKit to your personal iCloud account. Your data is tied to your Apple ID, the same way Photos or Notes data is. We do not operate a server that stores or processes your entries, and we do not have access to your data.

No accounts, no analytics, no advertising

Meridian Log doesn't require you to create an account — your identity is handled entirely through iCloud and your Apple ID. The app does not include any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and your data is never sold or shared with third parties.

Your data, your control

Because your data lives in your own iCloud account, you control it directly — deleting the app or your iCloud data removes your entries. If you have questions about your data or need help, reach out via the contact page.

Children's privacy

Meridian Log is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and post the revised policy at this same address.
